Drumline - Golden Knights Drumline

Our Drumline just performed in Galveston's annual Mardi Gras parade where the students walked over 3 miles playing non-stop for the crowds. Thank you parents for helping keep our kids safe in the parade as well as keeping the kids hydrated. Many people cheered the kids on and said they were better than High Schools!! We also were invited to play in Bellaire for 4th of July! Woo hoo. Go GKD!!

Robotics - Mr. Baula

Our robotics team was just given a new robot to help them get ready for their Ecobot Challenge in April. Our students are working hard and our dedicated teacher, Mr. Baula keeps the class fun!

Art Class - New

Our art class is new this semester and we're making all sorts of fun things! Our kids have made Mardi Gras masks, Valentine t-shirts and are about to start their new project making jewelry out of magazines. Ms. Patnod is dedicated to her students and enjoys coming up with creative ideas to keep the kids interested.

What the kids are saying about Technology

1. "We're excited about our new computers!" - Ariana 8th grade
2. "I get to see my best friend." - Melanie 7th grade
3. "I enjoy Photo Booth cause we can take pictures and put them into movies." - Tiffani 6th grade

Keeping Kids Safe

Our Technology class participated in a Keep Kids Safe Initiative where they learned about Internet Safety. Part of the program was playing a game called "Missing" where the students learned about a 14 year old boy who was talking to someone online and the game quickly became a scavenger hunt to find the missing boy. This program is based on a true story. All of the students enjoyed the program and used their knowledge to write a melo-drama to teach younger students, in elementary school about internet safety. A select group of 8th graders wrote a script, performed as actresses, directed eachother, and edited the video to show the Elementary students what could happen if you talk to strangers online. The students also showed the video to over 70 parents who attended our monthly Coffee with the Principal. The parents were happy to see that our students were being educated on internet safety. Our Faculty has also requested to see the video.

Drumline

We have over 48 students in the Drumline program, consisting of 4 different teams. Our students work diligently daily after school to perform for football games, UIL competitions, parades, private parties and possibly Houston's professional sports teams.

Technology

Our students in Technology are currently working in Garage Band to make their own music. In addition our students are learning about Internet safety. Once they have finished the program, they will mentor our feeder pattern Elementary students about internet Safety.

Our students know how to make their own music, make videos and edit videos. If you or your company needs a project completed - we'll gladly accept reasonable challenges

Please contact Ms. Caruso if you're interested in being a part of teaching our students how their computer and technology skills can come in handy in the workplace.

About me

Hi y'all, I'm Ms. Caruso the after school coordinator at Stevenson Middle School. I have run the after school program on campus for the past three year and am happy to start my fourth year with smiling faces.

I love working at Stevenson - from the friendly staff to the active parents and great students. Stevenson has a sense of family and everyone is constantly looking out for the best interest of the kids. We work hard as a faculty to make sure the kids are having fun while actively engaged in class. It is proven that students who are engaged in enrichment activities after school are more likely to succeed in school. With that said, Stevenson is the only Middle School recognized in the East Region!! What, What!!

I am a Baylor University graduate with a B.A. in Psychology. Before coming to Stevenson, I worked for the State of Texas at a Psychological and Conduct disorder facility in Waco, TX. I developed and taught curriculum for 12 - 17 year olds in: Life Skills, Financial Literacy, Self Esteem and Responsibility.
